What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound is a way of using sound waves to create pictures of inside the body.  Ultrasound imaging has been proven to be very safe, and does not use any ionising radiation (as with most other forms of Radiology), just sound. Most people will already be aware that ultrasound is utilised very commonly for assessing babies during pregnancy, but it has many others uses too. Ultrasound imaging can assess almost all areas of the body, including most internal organs, blood vessels, thyroid, breasts, testes, and for muscles, tendons and ligaments for sports injuries/accidents.
