Dr Brett Lyons

Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist

Brett worked in Dunedin Hospital for 13 years, and 3 as Clinical Leader of Radiology. He specialised in MSK Intervention in Australia and now heads a team of Specialist Sonographers, with expertise in all scopes of Ultrasound Imaging. We count ourselves very fortunate to have the benefit of his services and speedy reporting / discussions.

Alyson Hobbs

Alyson qualified in 1996 as an Ultrasound specialist in London and has gained experience in Musculo-Skeletal ultrasound over the past 15 years while working in private practice.  She has experience in obstetric, gynaecological, abdominal, thyroid and testicular ultrasound.  Alyson  has a background in diagnostic radiography; in 1996 she obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound at South Bank University, London.

Although her scope of practice includes general medical ultrasound, she has a specialist interest in obstetrics and gynaecology. As such, in 1997, she was one of the first sonographers to gain certification by the Fetal Medicine Foundation under Kypros Nicolaides (FMF, London).

Alyson practiced within the Scottish NHS as a Clinical Specialist, providing independent ultrasound reports for referrers. She currently holds a FMF license for Nuchal Translucency & Nasal Bone assessment during the 1st Trimester. Alyson is also a current member of MRTB and asa (Australian Sonographers association).

She is also qualified as a Shiatsu Practitioner and has been a member of SPAANZ for the last 15 years. Alyson has undergone training with the late Dolores Cannon in Quantum Healing Hypnotherapy  and has recently completed certified training in Introspective Hypnosis with Alba Weinman and Antonio Santios; where she is initiating her own style of mind-body healing for trauma or sports injuries called Guided Quantum Alignment. 

Alyson emigrated to NZ in 2006, where she has continued her career in private practice.

Dr Richard Thomas

Dr Richard Thomas

Dr Richard Thomas completed his medical degree at Guys hospital in London, then went onto work in Christchurch in the late 1980's. He has almost 20 years of general practice, both in the UK and in Tasman area. Koru is fortunate to have Dr Richard Thomas as our specially trained GP who performs the steroid injections with the guidance of our ultrasound specialist.

 

Dr Mark Hatfull

Dr Mark Hatfull grew up in Richmond, and went to Medical school at Otago where he met his wife. He initially started training in Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine, before making the switch to General Practice and has never looked back. Mark has special interests in Muscular Skeletal and Acute medicine, as well as skin cancer medicine, but enjoys all aspects of General Practice.

A keen follower of developments in the medical field, Mark has completed a post graduate paper in Muscular Skeletal Medicine and has a keen interest in Prolotherapy (PRP).

Now living back in his hometown with his wife and two young children, the family spend their time enjoying all the outdoor activities the region has to offer.

Sharon McIntosh

Reception, administration and marketing assistant.

Sharon is bubbly, compassionate and always goes the extra mile. She is the smiley face on the front desk and the friendly voice of Koru on the phone, Mondays to Fridays.

Family orientated with her focus on the new addition to the family her miniature Dachshund puppy Peanut.

Sharon's background is in finance, admin and health.

Vicky Simpson

Sonographer

Vicky has recently moved to NZ to start the next exciting episode in her life and career with her family.

She is a friendly, approachable person with extensive knowledge and experience in Ultrasound.

Vicky has been practicing for over 20 years in all areas of ultrasound, with a keen interest in Musculoskeletal and Obstetric Ultrasound but enjoys all areas of the job.

Vicky qualified in 1999 at Teesside University, England, with a PG Diploma in Medical Ultrasound, and is a current member of MRTBNZ, ASA  (Australian Sonographers Association), and FMF (Fetal Medicine Foundation).
